  1. MessageWorks Installation
  2. =========================

  4. This document describes how to install MessageWorks on a network or stand-
  5. alone PC.  For a more detailed description of what MessageWorks can do for
  6. you, view the file OVERVIEW.TXT.
  7.  
  8. MessageWorks requires at least 500K of free disk space when first installed.
  9. It requires Microsoft Windows 3.1 or later.  The installation program requires
  10. that VBRUN300.DLL (the Visual Basic Runtime module) be installed in the 
  11. \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.  The runtime module is free and can be downloaded 
  12. from Compuserve or most local computer bulletin board systems.

  15. To install MessageWorks, follow these simple instructions:

  17. 1.  Start Windows.
  18.  
  19. 2.  Run the SETUP.EXE program found on the Installation disk.  From the 
  20.     Program Manager, click Run on the File menu, then enter the drive name 
  21.     and full path where SETUP.EXE is located (e.g. A:\SETUP.EXE or 
  22.     C:\DOWNLOAD\SETUP.EXE) and click OK.

  24. 3.  For network installations, enter the name of the person who will be 
  25.     taking messages on this computer, whether they should be allowed to read 
  26.     messages for all users (at least one person in the group, usually the 
  27.     secretary, should have this capability to allow searching the entire 
  28.     database for a specific message), and how often to check for new 
  29.     messages.

  31. The setup program will decompress and copy the files and create a Program 
  32. Manager group titled "Epiphany."  Inside the Epiphany group will be several 
  33. icons, one of which is titled "MessageWorks."  Double-click on this icon to 
  34. start MessageWorks.  Online help is available to answer any questions about
  35. the program.
